So this morning was Juniper's first swim lesson.

 I drove to PB to watch the half hour lesson.  That's not wrong, right?

When Brit was little I didn't have much experience with cake decorating (sorry Beege). But I was having fun with it when Emma came along.

Not that I've gotten any better, but it was so fun to make a little girlie cake for the bug.

I think she liked it.

Just for a minute.....

This morning I got up to let the dogs out and glanced up at the view from the sliding glass door.  Ya know the place between sleep and not quite awake, where you still do things on autopilot? I let the dogs out a dawn every morning and crawl right back into bed without really waking up. That was where I was this morning, and as I saw this view it registered as being a hill in Italy. I was half the way back to my bed when it hit me that I didn't live in Italy and went back to check the view.

 No, I wasn't in Italy, still in foggy San Diego. But I swear I saw this hill in Northern Italy last year, sycamores and all.  And after a brief moment of disappointment it hit me that, man, who can complain when you live in a place so beautiful it COULD be in Italy.
By this time I was wide awake so took a picture so I could always be grateful for the little things; like the view from my bedroom on a foggy Wednesday morning.

So, tomorrow it'll be 20 years since this picture was taken.  And I STILL get the date wrong. I gave Fraz his card this morning.  So glad he thinks its funny, don't think I would be as understanding.
I love you, F. Thanks for putting up with me for two decades.

but I have it in writing...

I found this note while cleaning yesterday.  Its written by a teenage Brit during church, apparently on my birthday.  I don't know which part I like the best.  The whole rant about mom's fingers in kids mouths, which she totally does now!!    Or the part where she offers to break the Sabbath at the Marine Room ONLY because its my birthday.

ps.  The Marine Room is one of the more expensive restaurants in SD.  Gotta give it to her for trying.

Today I was asking Emma what to buy for her lunches and I asked what kind of cookie she liked.
Emma: Chocolate chip, but I don't really want them in my lunch.
Me: Why not?
Emma: Cause I prefer to eat them warm from the oven, sitting by the fire with a glass of cold milk; not at school, outside, with a bunch of cussing kids.

Night before jitters
